Ultrasonic Testing
Ultrasonic testing uses the transmission of high frequency sound waves into a material to detect imperfections within the material or changes in material properties. The most commonly used ultrasonic testing is pulse echo, where in sound is introduce into the test object and reflections are returned to a receiver from internal imperfections and geometrical surfaces of the part. This is basically used for flaw detection and evaluation, dimensional measurement, material characterization and others. This method requires lot of training and operator should have full-fledged knowledge for interpretation of result. This testing is highly useful and an effective method.
